We will host marbling artist Hikmet Barutçugil in the conference series organized within the scope of the TÜBİTAK 3501 project Sociocultural, Historical and Religious Dimensions of Sultantepe Özbekler Tekkesi supported by ISAR Research Center. In his speech, Barutçugil will introduce the marbling tradition that was formed in the Özbekler Tekkesi and passed on to the next generations.

Barutçugil was introduced to the art of marbling during his university education and continued his specialization in the field after graduation. In addition to giving many seminars and conferences to promote the art of marbling, he has also written many articles and nine books. Barutçugil, who still continues to teach marbling in the fine arts departments of universities, is also the person who invented the type of marbling known as “Gunpowder Marbling”.
