Summary
The Ahkam al-Qur’an literature is a genre that includes explanations of the verses related to acts of worship, social transactions, and criminal punishments. It contains the earliest interpretations aimed at understanding the divine address (Khitabullah). The Ahkam al-Qur’an workshop, to be held under the ISAR Research Center, will address the approach to relating Qur’anic rulings with fiqh from its inception. Within this framework, the workshop will include readings from various tafsir works on rulings, hadith compilations on rulings, and books of jurisprudence, focusing on some classical works written in this literature. The study aims to handle the verses on rulings in two ways simultaneously.
Firstly, a chronological reading will be conducted. In this direction, the Qur’anic verses on which the rulings under each heading of the branches of fiqh (furu‘ al-fiqh) are based will be examined according to their order of revelation, starting from the chapter on purification (taharah).
Secondly, the meaning of the divine address will be subjected to a layered reading in three aspects: the apparent (zahir), the rationale (illah), and the purpose (ghayah). The study will focus on the close connection between the apparent and purpose-oriented meanings of the verses, considering their context and sequential relationship.
The workshop is planned to be held biweekly, with various tasks assigned to participants for each session. It is anticipated to be conducted face-to-face, if feasible.
