Application of Artificial Intelligence to Ottoman Fatwa Collections Project

The “Application of Artificial Intelligence to Ottoman Fatwa Collections” project aims to conduct a comparative analysis of Ottoman fatwa collections using artificial intelligence methods. Focusing especially on the fatwas of Minkarizade Yahya Efendi in the field of waqf law, the project seeks to reveal the similarities between these fatwas and those in other Shaykh al-Islam fatwa collections. Using artificial intelligence, the fatwa texts will be converted into numerical data, and similarity maps will be created using vector representations and weighting methods. This approach will allow for the analysis of the legal interactions and periodicity of the fatwas’ contents, resulting in a new comparative fatwa study. The project will make a significant contribution to understanding Ottoman law and demonstrate how AI applications can be effectively used in disciplines such as theology, law, and history.
