Ecological Crisis

Summary

One of the most dramatic consequences of globalization is the emergence of global climate change as the most urgent problem awaiting resolution for all humanity. In this workshop, issues such as climate change, population, energy, food, water, waste, and biodiversity loss will be reviewed. From this perspective, philosophical discussions on topics such as humanity’s place within nature, the rights of future generations, sustainable development models, and animal rights will be evaluated. Subsequently, alternative policy proposals for addressing these issues will be analyzed. Religious approaches to these problems, as well as Islam’s environmental ethics, will be critically examined. The workshop aims to explore the nature, causes, and potential solutions of the ecological crisis, compare them with classical ideas, and generate insights for future research projects.
