Human Nature

At the intersection of medicine, morality, ethics and fiqh, the issue of human nature is fundamental to how people approach issues. From artificial intelligence to euthanasia debates, the meaning attributed to human beings is the main factor that directs the discussion. Human Nature Reading Group planned for the Spring semester of 2024 within the scope of ISAR TAÇ Biofiqh Reading Groups aims to address this issue. During the course, various topics such as the essence and nature of human beings, philosophers’ perception of human beings, the debates about human nature in historical periods, the views put forward on this subject in the 19th and 20th centuries and the current debates, the comparison of artificial intelligence and human nature, and the differences in the essence of living plant and animal species will be discussed.
