Summary
This workshop aims to analyze the Ottoman historiographical tradition within the framework of Gelibolulu Mustafa Âlî’s Kunh Al-Akhbar. In the workshop, Kunh Al-Akhbar will be read and analyzed in its historical context, while other Ottoman history texts will be discussed comparatively. Basically, discussions will be carried out within the framework of questions such as the motives with which Ottoman authors constructed historical texts, how they conveyed the events, people and processes they witnessed in the past, and with which methods they approached the past. Finally, it is aimed to prepare a workshop and a compilation book based on it with the contributions of the participants.
Meetings will be held biweekly on Thursday between 15.00-17.00.
