Ottoman Political Thought

Summary

This workshop aims to address important concepts and developmental processes of Ottoman political thought. Last year’s work on the institution of the vizierate will be continued and these topics will be deepened. In addition, discussions will be held on important themes in Ottoman politics such as international law and relations with non-Muslim states.

Within the scope of the workshops, different aspects of Ottoman political thought will be discussed and students are aimed to comprehend the subject in depth. The workshop is especially addressed to graduate and doctoral students.

Knowledge of Ottoman Turkish and English is required for participation.

Sessions will be organized in Turkish.
