Summary

From the foundational texts of Ancient Greek philosophy to the significant thinkers of the 20th century, numerous debates have emerged concerning the origins and nature of mathematics. At this juncture, a reading group is planned to examine enduring and intricate debates inherited from classical periods and still actively discussed today. These topics include the nature of numbers (or mathematical objects), the ontological status of mathematical propositions, and the implications thereof.

Organized under the Istanbul Foundation for Research and Education (ISAR), this reading group, titled Philosophy of Mathematics and Statistics, requires active participation, with each participant expected to contribute at various stages of the discussions.
