Psychology of Gifted Students

Summary

In this workshop, we aim to address the psychology of giftedness. During the workshop, we will discuss how giftedness is not only a matter of cognitive capacity, but also a multi-layered phenomenon that affects all areas of development of the individual.

In the first stage, we will examine the psychological foundations of giftedness; its cognitive, emotional and social components. In this context, we will focus on issues such as sensory sensitivities, emotional intensity and identity construction that are prominent in the developmental processes of gifted individuals. Social emotional characteristics associated with giftedness will form an important axis of our discussion.

In the second part of the workshop, we will discuss the factors that support and limit the psychosocial development of gifted individuals in the light of existing psychological theories and current research. Within this framework, the experiences of gifted individuals in the context of family, school and peer relationships, their psychological support needs and intervention approaches will be evaluated in a multidimensional manner.

Throughout the workshop, in addition to theoretical discussions, we will aim to gain a deeper understanding of the psychological dimension of giftedness through interactive activities based on case examples and participants’ own experiences.
