Written at the beginning of the 20th century, Safahat holds great significance for its historical testimony and its discussions of many problems that persist today, offering proposed solutions. However, its complex language, occasionally intricate style, and references to the events and debates of its time make it a challenging text to read. For this reason, despite its importance, it has not received the attention it deserves. In the Safahat Reading Group, participants will embark on a journey into Mehmet Akif’s language and intellectual world, with a special focus on the work’s connections to contemporary issues. This approach aims to deepen the understanding of Safahat and its relevance to both its own era and the present day.
