Summary
The Turkish General Social Survey (TGSS) is a national research project that will help us understand the social structure in Turkey and provide policy makers, researchers and other interested parties with a reliable data set. The main objective of this project is to understand various aspects of our society, examine our social behaviors and preferences, measure living standards, and track changes in society. Similar to the General Social Survey (GSS), which has been successfully conducted in the United States since 1972, the TGSS will provide an important source for tracking social changes in Turkey, understanding the role of subgroups in society, and comparing Turkey with other countries.
In addition to demographic information, the TGSS has a set of questions focusing on social and political participation, level and perception of well-being, moral values, social mobility and other areas of special interest. This level of comprehensive data collection aims to make a significant contribution to social science research in Turkey. One of the priorities of TGSS is to provide these target groups with easy access to high quality data. In addition, TGSS collaborates with individuals and institutions at national and international level to improve its research methods and ensure the highest quality of its data.
To summarize, TGSS will serve as a platform to collect and share reliable, comprehensive and up-to-date data in order to understand Turkish society and find solutions for a more just and inclusive Turkey.
