Imagination and Representation in Husserl
As part of ISAR Research Center’s Thesis Presentations series, M. Hasan Kılıç will present his master’s thesis titled “Imagination and Representation in Husserl’s Phenomenology”. The thesis is based on the finding that phenomenology removes perception from the mediation of representation or imagination in traditional theories of perception and recognizes imagination as a unique way of seeing. In his thesis, Kılıç reveals how Husserl’s phenomenology deals with image consciousness, imagination and recollection consciousness as modes of imaginary seeing and compares them with Husserl’s theory of perception. Thus, he investigated how the issue of the manifestation of something non-existent, which emerges as a difficulty in the research on imagination, could have contributed to Husserl’s understanding of perception and phenomenology in general.
M. Hasan Kılıç received his bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from Galatasaray University and completed his master’s degree at 29 Mayıs University with his thesis titled “Imagination and Representation in Husserl’s Phenomenology”.
