Kasb Literature Project

Summary

This project aims to present the Kesb (Earning) literature, which forms an important line of the classical economic accumulation, through different periods and works. The project will cover approximately 15 works written from the 8th century to the 20th century, while Ottoman fatwas will be utilized for the 17th and 18th centuries where no independent works can be found. In this project, Kesb literature will be examined through fields such as fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence), hadith (sayings of Prophet Muhammad), and Sufism, systematically evaluating contributions made in different periods to provide significant insights into the economic principles and continuity of classical thought. The project aims to produce a compiled book that examines Kesb literature. In addition to the working group members, new team members who can contribute during the process are also planned to be included in the project.
